A Transformative Journey

Welcome to Quito

Day 1

Arrive in Quito, Ecuador's vibrant capital. We'll meet in the evening for a group gathering at our cozy hotel, a perfect chance to connect with fellow travelers and discuss the days ahead.Overnight at Cultura Manor Hotel.

Journey Through the Andes to the Amazon

Day 2

Today, we set out by minivan through the stunning “Valley of Volcanoes,” crossing the eastern Andes and descending along the Pastaza River Canyon. We’ll pass through breathtaking Cloud Forests, with views opening up to the vast Amazon rainforest. Tonight, we’ll settle into our eco-lodge, El Jardin, on the edge of the jungle.

Into the Sacred Headwaters

Days 3-5

A short flight takes us deeper into the rainforest, to the sacred headwaters of the Amazon. The Sápara people greet us with a cleansing ceremony, welcoming us into their lands. During our stay at NAKU camp, Sápara guides will lead us on forest hikes, river swims, and canoe excursions. We’ll dive into their dream culture and the rich cosmology that guides their lives.

Immersed in Achuar Territory

Days 6-11

We fly deeper into the Amazon, arriving in Achuar Territory, where guides will escort us by canoe along the Capahuari River to Kapawi Eco-lodge, our base for the next four days. With the Achuar, we’ll explore the forest and river, encountering wildlife and participating in community rituals. Highlights include early morning Guayusa tea ceremonies, an all-night medicine ceremony led by a revered Shaman, and deep forest immersions. Days are filled with swimming, kayaking, and learning from the wisdom of the Achuar and the rainforest.

Integration and Renewal

Days 12 & 13

We leave the forest for the serenity of Luna Volcan Spa. Here, we’ll rest, debrief, and integrate the lessons from our Amazon immersion. We’ll learn about Pachamama Alliance’s work with Indigenous partners and explore how to continue supporting this vital cause.

Return to Quito & Departure

Days 14 & 15

Returning to Quito, we’ll come together for a farewell dinner to celebrate our journey. Share stories, reflect on new friendships, and savor one last evening together in Ecuador.

After breakfast the following morning, it’s time to say our goodbyes as we prepare for departures back home, carrying with us unforgettable memories and new perspectives from the heart of the Amazon.

Joining The Guardians of Pachamama trip are two transformative leaders: Lynne Twist, co-founder of the Pachamama Alliance and founder of the Soul of Money Institute, and Sara Vetter, Chief Enrollment Officer for the Soul of Money Institute and Major Gift Fundraiser for the Pachamama Alliance.

Lynne Twist is a renowned advocate for transformational finance and conscious philanthropy. She is the author of bestselling books, including The Soul of Money and Living a Committed Life, and has worked with organizations like Microsoft, Harvard, and the United Way. As a sought-after speaker, Lynne has shared her insights at global forums, including the UN Beijing Women’s Conference and discussions with His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

Sara Vetter has been Lynne’s partner since 2011, leading initiatives for the Soul of Money Institute and the Pachamama Alliance. With a proven track record in fundraising, she has raised millions of dollars and participated in over 20 delegations to the Amazon. Her work includes collaboration with Nobel Laureates and leading coalitions for social change.

On this journey, Lynne and Sara will share their profound insights and experiences, guiding participants through the Amazon Rainforest’s natural beauty while fostering a deep understanding of Pachamama—“Mother Earth”—and the vital role of indigenous communities as guardians of this sacred ecosystem.
